Products from Trane are covered by warranties to help protect your heating and cooling units in case of a mishap. Trane offers a few different types of warranties on residential installations:

Base Limited Warranty Coverage

All Trane products come with a Base Limited Warranty. This plan covers the cost of any parts that break due to a manufacturing defect. Labor is not included under the Base Coverage. This coverage remains in effect from 1 to 20 years.

Registered Limited Warranty

If you register your Trane equipment purchase within 60 days, the Base Limited plan becomes a Registered Limited Warranty. This plan provides coverage from 5 years up to the lifetime of the unit. If the product is not registered within 60 days, Trane’s Base Limited Warranty applies.

Trane Products Covered Under the Registered Limited Warranty

  • Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps: the compressor, the outdoor coil and internal functional parts
  • Furnaces: the heat exchanger and internal functional parts
  • All-in-One Systems: the heat exchanger, the compressor, the coil, and internal functional parts
  • Air Handlers, Air Cleaners, Humidifiers, Controls, and, Thermostats: internal functional parts

Optional Extended Warranty

Upgrade to an Optional Extended Warranty to fully protect your Trane equipment. This comprehensive warranty covers the cost of defective parts as well as labor. There are a number of coverage options for you to choose from. You can get full coverage for labor and parts for 5 years, 10 years or 12 years. You can also get coverage on Trane products installed within the last two years. If you decide to sell your home, the Optional Extended Warranty can be transferred to the new owner.

Trane Warranty Preventive Maintenance Requirement

To ensure that your coverage remains valid, your equipment must receive annual maintenance. HVAC repairs and breakdowns caused by a lack of maintenance are not covered. The easiest way to maintain warranties is to sign up for a service agreement with the HVAC contractor who installed your system.
